Harry Althorpe
Arboriculture Graduate – Honours, ISA Certified Arborist, Ontario Certified Arborist
When I first started ArborCARE all I really had was an old pick-up truck, one chainsaw, and my climbing equipment. But most importantly I had passion. This passion gave me a vision of a large full service tree care company that provides exceptional service and value, with the highest ethics and integrity.
That vision is coming to fruition as we are now a multi crew company with numerous trucks and high quality equipment which employs several Certified Arborists and provides summer job opportunities for students. |

Although I worked for landscapers and tree services throughout my teenage years, I started my official education right after high school by enrolling in Arboriculture at Niagara College. I graduated with Honours in 1997, and went to work for a company in Toronto. After 6000 hours of practical experience, and an extensive tree care knowledge exam, I achieved my Ontario Certified Arborist Status. A few years later, after learning more advanced Tree Biology and keeping current on new climbing techniques, safety and equipment, I became an ISA Certified Arborist as well.
The next phase in my education is to become an ISA Board Certified Master Arborist, (there are currently only 2 in Ontario, and 6 in Canada) which I hope to do by 2010. |

Corey Ogden – Forestry Technician, Urban Forestry & Arboriculture Student
Before taking the Arboriculture program here at Fleming College, I have spent the last two years taking the Forestry Technician Program, which I graduated in spring 2007. Along with the Arboriculture Program, I am also currently taking the Urban Forestry Program, which concentrates heavily on growing and caring for the trees in towns and cities. The Arboriculture Program at Fleming concentrates on teaching the students how to do the job in both an efficient and safe manner.
My previous experience when it comes to working with trees has been with fire fighting across Canada, as well as various jobs performing park and trail maintenance. Some of Corey’s achievements include: Class President of the 2008 Arboriculture Class Member of CILA, Canadian Intercollegiate Lumberjacking Association Member of Fleming Timbersports Team competing across Canada. |
Graeme Smith – Forestry Technician, Parks & Forest Recreation Diploma
Graeme has lived all over Canada and gained valuable experience while working for various landscapers, reforestation companies, and tree services as well as helping to run a family farm from the age of 8.
In his spare time Graeme enjoys camping and being outdoors. Graeme looks forward to continuing his education this year by enrolling in the Arboriculture Program at Sir Sanford Fleming College, where he completed his previous schooling. |
